New regulations for agricultural commodities in Egypt

The Egyptian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Small Industries, in particular through the General Authority For Supply Commodities (GASC) and the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), has recently demanded that all inspection companies quickly readjust their ISO 17020 accreditation requirements on imported goods.

This measure has been taken in order to better meet the evolving needs of the country, while effectively protecting Egyptian consumers’ health.

Such modifications specifically concern the following agricultural commodities: wheat, corn, soy beans. They will become fully effective starting from the 1st of January, 2017 and, to this end, all accredited companies will by then need to be perfectly compliant.

Within this scenario, Cotecna is already in line with these regulations and has received GOEIC’s approval, which confirms the company’s leading position in the market.
