Egypt has updated its customs procedures. The new system aims to speed up the entry and clearance of products exported to the country.
According to Decree 222/2021 issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, importers must provide additional documents along with the prerequisite Advanced Cargo Identification (ACID) number. ACID is a 19-digit number with validity ranging from 48 hours to 3 months.
Egyptian authorities have also set-up NAFEZA, an Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) platform. The new platform enables importers to transmit shipment and customs data electronically.
