Egypt makes GOEIC COCs mandatory for regulated imports

From November 18, 2021, Egypt will now require products regulated under the GOEIC programme to be accompanied by a COC for import clearance.

Products regulated under the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) programme will now require Certificates of Conformity (CoC) to be cleared for import.

The mandatory requirement will go into effect in May 2022.

The GOEIC programme launched in 2016 with factories and manufactories of regulated products required to register with GOEIC to continue exporting to Egypt. However, the requirement for COCs for customs clearance remained voluntary until now.

The GOEIC programme aims to regulate the quality and safety of regulated products based on national and international standards and technical regulations. Cotecna is one of conformity bodies accredited by GOEIC to issue Certificates of Conformity for regulated products exported to Egypt.
