The Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade in Egypt recently issued the following new decrees which come into effect fully from 16th March 2016:
These Decrees introduce significant changes to the import clearance procedure. In particular, factories, manufacturers or trademark owners of regulated products must now register with Egypt’s General Organization of Export and Import Control (GOEIC) in order to continue to export to Egypt. Registration can be done in one of two ways: either by factory or brand registration.
This option is intended for manufacturers. All products manufactured in exporter factories must be provided, and the registration process proceeds on a per factory basis. All the necessary forms for registration by factories are available at your nearest Cotecna office. Contact Us.
This option is intended for trademark owners and distributors. The list of brands owned by the exporter must be provided, as well as the factories producing these specific products. All the necessary forms for registration by brands are available at your nearest Cotecna office. Contact Us.
Please note that exporters can complete the registrations themselves, or alternatively, Cotecna can assist them throughout the registration process. If you want more information on GOEIC Registration, please have a look at our Egypt Exporter Guide. All documents including GOEIC forms for GOEIC submission are available upon request. Please check out our contact list to get the details of your nearest Cotecna office.
